Frequently Asked Questions
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPad?
If you have already purchased the All-Access Pass and switched devices or reinstalled the app:
- Open Amber Puppets and tap the Backstage & Pack Manager gear icon in the top right of the main menu.
- Pass the quick Parental Gate challenge.
- Tap Restore Apple Purchase at the bottom of the card.
- Apple StoreKit will automatically verify your Apple ID entitlement and unlock all packs instantly without charging you again.
Does the app support Apple Family Sharing?
Yes! The All-Access Pass is a standard non-consumable in-app purchase that supports Apple Family Sharing. Once purchased by the Family Organizer, other family members in your Family Sharing group can download Amber Puppets on their devices and tap Restore Purchase to unlock all features at no additional charge.
How do schools deploy Amber Puppets to iPad fleets?
Educational institutions can purchase and distribute Amber Puppets through Apple School Manager or the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) using Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions like Jamf School, Mosyle, or Apple Configurator. Standard volume discounts apply automatically through Apple School Manager.
Are the iOS App and the Web Subscription separate products?
Yes, they are two separate products designed for different creative environments:
- The iOS App (App Store): Standalone on-device native app for iPad and iPhone. Ideal for tactile finger manipulation, offline use, and family device sharing with a one-time purchase.
- Amber Web Pro (amberpuppets.com): Online browser subscription covering all three apps (AmberPuppets, AmberJr, and AmberCodes) with teacher accounts, Chromebook/PC support, and temporary student access code generators for class lessons.
Why does the app ask for Camera and Microphone access?
Amber Puppets asks for permissions solely for creative features:
- Camera: Used in the Photo Puppet Maker to photograph artwork, toys, or yourself to turn them into puppets.
- Microphone: Used while recording puppet shows so children can narrate dialogue and character voices.
- Photos Library: Used to save exported MP4 puppet show videos to your camera roll.
All photos, audio, and videos remain 100% on your iPad. Nothing is ever sent to any remote server or third party.
Can Amber Puppets be used without an internet connection?
Yes. Amber Puppets is built from the ground up as a "local-first" offline application. Once installed from the App Store, all puppet animation, stage physics, photo cutout processing, audio recording, and video rendering happen entirely on your device with no internet connection required.
How do I enable microphone or camera if I previously denied permission?
Open your iPad or iPhone Settings app ➔ scroll down and tap Amber Puppets ➔ toggle the switches for Camera and Microphone to ON (green).
